You won’t find horse riding in more involving surroundings.

Hacks

These can be found under our Group Lessons section.  Our hacks take place on our private bridleways with beautiful views of the Menai Straights, Snowdonia Mountain Range and Caernarfon Castle.

1 hour Trot Taster

Learn or practice the basics in our outdoor arena before your Hack. Perfect for beginners or groups of mixed abilities wanting to ride together.

 

1 hour Trot Hack 

Riders MUST be capable in rising trot and riding independently.  Riders will be assessed in our outdoor arena before going out on the Hack.

1 hour Canter Hack

Riders MUST be capable in canter and riding independently.  Riders will be assessed in our outdoor arena before going out on the Hack.

If after assessment for the Trot or Canter Hacks, riders are found not to be capable You will NOT be permitted to take part in the Hack - Refunds will NOT be given.    

Group Lessons

Group Lessons take place in our Indoor Arena with a Maximum of 6 riders.  Our group lessons have 5 Levels - Riders will be able to move up to the next level ONLY when our Instructor feels that they are completely ready.  

Every rider at AEC will be monitored by their Instructor for their progression in their riding.  Please remember that everyone learns at their own pace, so there is no set time on how quickly you will move up a level.  Our Instructors will let you know when you’re ready to move onto the next Level of lesson, and this will then be changed on the booking system for you. 

Level one - 1/2hr lesson.

This level is suitable for complete beginners who are riding with a leader.  Only group lessons are available for riders at this Level:

-Sit in the correct position.

-Hold their reins and shorten and lengthen them correctly.

-Steer, stop and walk independently with correct aids.

-Be able to ride in rising trot to the back of the ride without a leader.

-Ride without stirrups in walk and a few strides of trot.

Level two – 1/2hr lesson.

This level is suitable for riders capable of riding without a leader:

-Ride at the front, middle and back of the ride.

-Trot as a whole ride performing school movements and transitions.

-Canter to the back of the ride without holding.

-Understand and ride simple school movements - 20m circle, serpentine, centre line, figure of eight, change of rein.

-Trot over poles in a basic layout.

-Be able to show and maintain a balanced light seat ready for jumping.

-Trot without stirrup’s to the back of the ride.

Level Three  –  45minute lesson. 

-Ride accurate transitions correctly at a letter in the arena.

-Jump a small cross pole and straight jump.

-Be comfortable on a variety of horses or ponies.

-Ride in open order and know how to warm up correctly.

-Trot without stirrups as a whole ride.

-Canter as a whole ride.

-Starting to understand contact/flexion/bend

-Understand and ride simple school movements independently and accurately

-Be able to ride a dressage test with instruction - Intro Test

Level Four - 1hr lesson.

-Jump a small course of jumps in canter.

-Be able to ride a dressage test with instruction - Prelim Test

-Walk, trot and canter without stirrups.

-Keep a contact and develop an understanding of their horse’s way of going and how to improve it.

Level Five - 1hr lesson. 

-Riders at level five are competent.

-Working towards riding a Novice dressage test.

-Jumping a course of jumps.

 

Private Lessons

Private Lessons take place in our Indoor Arena.  If you have been Graded at Level 2 or above Private lessons will be visible for you to book.  There is also an option to turn into a semi-private.  If you would like to do this with a friend you can, learn how to add friends HERE
